Cloud-based infrastructure became the gold standard for cost-efficient functioning of businesses. Amongst many other benefits, it allows you to simplify processes and reduce time to market. Thanks to Googles newest release - the App Maker, now you can achieve even more with Cloud Platform.
After a year and a half of testing the beta version, Google has finally made their AppMaker available to everyone using G Suite Business and Enterprise accounts, as well as G Suite for Education customers. This is very exciting news, as it will help you customise your G Suite experience easily even without deep knowledge of coding.
The new service features a cloud-based drag-and-drop development environment that lets you build the user interface and populate it with data from your G Suite applications, Google Maps, Contacts and Groups and virtually any service that offers an API. These applications then run on the same infrastructure on which Google’s own G Suite apps run, and IT admins can also manage them in exactly the same way as Gmail, Drive and other G Suite applications.
You can use these kind of apps for time-tracking solutions, or tracking orders and inventory — essentially any problem inside your company that can be easily digitised and solved by a very basic custom app.
The advantage here is that you won’t have to worry about any of the underlying infrastructure as the solution is serverless. It will allow you to quickly develop apps that solve your very specific needs without the need to bring on a developer. If you are tech savvy and want to delve deeper, though, you can also do so thanks to the built-in scripting editor, which — from the looks of it — feels like a pretty fully featured IDE.
App Maker is now available through Google’s Early Adopter Program for G Suite Business
