Google expands Gemini Live with over 40 languages for AI voice chat

Google is making Gemini Live accessible to a global audience, enhancing its role as a tool for natural, conversational interactions. Initially, Gemini Live was only available for paid Gemini Advanced subscribers, but in September 2024, Google made it part of the free experience for users.

Launched first in English, Gemini Live is now expanding its language support, with plans to cover more than 40 languages in the coming weeks. Google has already rolled out the first phase of the expansion, starting with languages like French, German, Brazilian Portuguese, American Spanish, and Hindi. In the weeks ahead, more languages will follow.

Gemini Live doesn’t just chat; it also connects with Google apps like Gmail, Calendar, and Maps. This means you can ask it to find information, add events to your calendar, or set reminders, all in your chosen language. For example, you could ask Gemini to pull up a recipe from your Gmail and add the ingredients to your shopping list in Google Keep.​
